GVMPA Annual Campaign

Dear Friends of Great Valley Music:

As an advocate for every Great Valley student musician, Great Valley Music Parents Association (GVMPA) provides hands-on support as well as financial assistance to cover the costs of the many essential components of a successful music program that fall outside of the GVSD music department's regular operating budget, including such things as musical instruments and equipment, uniforms, and formalwear. Additionally, GVMPA supports and advocates for the formation and development of new and unique musical ensembles and experiences that will afford every student the opportunity to participate and thrive in GV musical arts.

Each year, GVMPA raises about $25,000 to maintain our current programming -- serving 800+ students throughout our district’s six schools. And we have much to be proud of: outstanding and committed music educators, well-balanced and high-performing students, a record selection to All-District, Region, State and National ensembles.

With additional volunteer and financial support, we can further develop our programming at all levels in meaningful ways: new ensembles, additional performance opportunities, improved facilities, equipment and resources, and increased scholarships.

Your support is critical to maintaining and growing musical arts at Great Valley. As a parent of a participating student, you already know the transformational value of quality music programming – higher standardized test scores, better student relationships, decreased likelihood of engaging in risky behaviors, including using substances, and more cohesive families, to name just a few.

We are eager to partner with you to create lasting effect on our children and our school community.

To help maintain our current programming, we are asking each family to contribute $50. You can make this donation online at www.gvmpa.org, Venmo @GVMPA, or drop a check in the drop box outside the GVHS Music Office.

Below, please see additional ways you can help us further develop our programming through participating in our sponsorship program, providing in-kind donations, and especially, volunteering.

Warm regards,

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteer support is essential to the success of our Music Department and there are many ways you can lend a hand:

Hands On Help

Help is needed throughout every school year for music events such as K-12 concerts, GV Music merchandise tables, and fundraisers such as Designer Bag Bingo, our Mums Sale, and our Holiday Plant Sale. If your music student is in GV Marching Band, volunteering opportunities include chaperoning away football games/competitions, transporting equipment to/from performances, bringing equipment on and off the performance field, providing meals, staffing the Shack (concession stand) during home football games, and fittings for uniforms and costumes. Many of these opportunities are also available to support our Indoor Percussion and Indoor Color Guard programs.
Signing up is easy and volunteering is FUN!
Upcoming volunteer opportunities are available on our website along with details.
Visit www.gvmpa.org and click on the blue “Donate/Volunteer” button for more
information.

Organizing / Planning
Pulling off a successful year of performances, learning, and competitions requires moving parts. In addition to one-time volunteering opportunities, you can play an important role in planning and organizing through committee work, including:

• Communications Committee: Help build awareness and communicate with the broader community through our website, monthly e-newsletter, and social media

• Fundraising Committee: Support current fundraising events and initiatives and build new events to help meet fundraising goals

• Events: Help organize, plan, and execute our primary Music Department events, including the marching band banquet, Indoor Color Guard and Indoor Percussion shows, and Designer Bag Bingo

For more information on how we are building and launching these new committees and to express your interest, please contact the GVMPA Board at contact@gvmpa.org.
